Jason Gatzulis

Jason has been a personal injury in Chicago for nearly 20 years and has been responsible for obtaining millions in settlements and verdicts for injured individuals and their families in cases involving semi-truck and auto collisions, premises liability, medical malpractice, wrongful death, nursing home neglect, school and daycare negligence and sexual abuse.

Prior to becoming a personal injury attorney, Jason was a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where he gained valuable jury trial experience. Since leaving the State’s Attorney’s Office, Jason has dedicated himself to representing those injured due to the negligence of others.

Jason’s experience as a prosecutor and personal injury attorney has been the most advantageous when he has represented victims of sexual assault. As a general rule, Illinois law does not recognize a duty to protect another from the criminal acts of a third party. However, there are a few exceptions to that rule, and Jason was able to use those exceptions to hold a property management company, and a construction company, civilly liable for those criminal sexual assaults.

One such case involved the sexual assault of a woman, who at the time of the assault, was living in a housing development for senior citizens. Her attacker was able to gain entry into a common area of the development through a gate that was not properly secured, despite the common area sharing a boundary with an alley in a high crime area. Jason was able to secure a confidential settlement with the property management company on behalf of his client.

Another case involved the sexual assault of a woman who was on her way to work when she was dragged into an unsecured construction site in a high-crime area. Video footage showed that the perpetrator was able to gain easy access to the construction site and use both the darkness of the site and equipment inside the site, to commit and conceal the assault. Jason was again able to secure a confidential settlement with the construction company on behalf of his client.

In the past few years, Jason’s work on behalf of 13 clients who all suffered lower leg fractures on the same slide at Maggie Daley Park, not only resulted in over 3 million dollars recovered for those clients but also resulted in the slide eventually being removed, making Maggie Daley Park safer for its patrons.

Jason currently lives in the western suburbs with his wife and their 3 children.
