Four workers were injured recently when a concrete slab fell at a construction site for a new dormitory near the University of Central Florida. The workers were in the process of creating a floor at the time of the accident.
Two men were pinned beneath the slab, with one worker suffering serious head, neck or back injuries. The other two workers were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Work was immediately halted pending an investigation by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Robert Finfrock, owner of Finfrock Construction, the company overseeing the project, released this statement: “We pay a lot of attention to safety and engineering and we are very concerned about how this happened and concerned for the family of those who were injured.”
Unfortunately, accidents happen all the time, and frequently they are caused by faulty equipment or someone’s carelessness. In these cases, the injured individuals could be entitled to compensation.
If you were injured due to someone else’s careless, negligent, reckless or intentional actions, you should talk to a personal injury lawyer about your options. The law allows compensation in such cases, and your best bet for success would be to choose a law firm that has extensive experience with personal injury law.
